The Langa Quarter is the site of the first proactively zoned area in the Country. All 207 homes in the quarter have been pre-approved for business development the first step in creating compliant business. The 207 homes (without a single abstention) have been pre-approved for business development making the Langa Quarter the go-to place for corporates looking for BBBEE Enterprise Development (ED) opportunities.
This results from the successfully piloted approach by iKhaya le Langa NPC and its partner the City of Cape Town, who proactively worked to widen the scope of permitted zoning scheme activities by applying for approvals on behalf of land-owners in the precinct. The new rights allow for small business opportunities, such as restaurants and guest houses, in the Langa Quarter Precinct. This highly technical process was only made possible due to a genuine working partnership between; ikhaya le Langa NPC, the residents of the Langa Quarter, and specific officials from the City of Cape Town’s Spatial planning and Urban design department.
